Finelib Jobs › How we check jobs
How we check every job
Fake job adverts cost Nigerians money, time and hope. Finelib Jobs only lists vacancies from businesses you can look up on Finelib, taken from the employer’s own channels, with automatic quality checks and editors for anything unusual.
The employer is verified
We list jobs from businesses with a Finelib.com listing, and from verified international organisations: UN agencies, the African Union, development banks, ECOWAS, international NGOs and foreign companies hiring in Nigeria. Our system re-checks Finelib listings every week, and if one disappears, the company’s jobs come down.
The job comes from the employer
We read jobs from the employer’s own careers page or job board, or the employer sends them to us. For NGOs we also read the jobs they post themselves on ReliefWeb, the UN OCHA humanitarian jobs service. We do not copy adverts from commercial job sites.
Quality checks, then editors
Every job is checked automatically. Adverts that mention fees, very short adverts, re-posted jobs, jobs sent through our form and jobs from businesses not yet on Finelib are held for an editor.
We keep it fresh
We check employers’ sites every day. A job comes down when it closes, when it disappears from the employer’s site, or when the employer asks us.
Every job on Finelib Jobs has
- A named employer with a Finelib listing you can open from the job, or a verified international organisation
- A link to apply on the employer’s own website, or the employer’s own contact details
- A closing date. If the employer gave none, we list it only while it is still on their site.
- The date we last saw it open
We keep out jobs that
- Ask applicants to pay anything: forms, tests, training, medicals, uniforms, "processing"
- Come from Nigerian businesses without a Finelib listing
- Are not based in Nigeria (or open to people in Nigeria, for remote roles)
- Repeat a job already listed, or re-post the same role soon after it closed
- Are vague, unpaid or commission-only
Our twice-weekly schedule
New jobs are published every Monday and Friday. Closed and filled jobs are removed every day.
Employers: control your listings
Your jobs appear here because they are public on your website and your business is listed on Finelib. To change or remove a job, or to stop listing your jobs, use “Report a problem” on any job page or email [email protected]. We act within one working day.
Employer optionsJob seekers: stay alert
Our checks lower the risk but cannot remove it completely. A Finelib listing shows the business exists; it is not a guarantee of how it hires. Never pay to get a job, and use our job scam checker on any offer you receive.
Questions and answers
Is Finelib Jobs free for job seekers?
Yes. Browsing, applying and every career tool are free, with no sign-up. No job on Finelib Jobs may ask you for money.
Where do the jobs on Finelib Jobs come from?
Every job comes from a business that has a listing in the Finelib.com business directory, or from a verified international organisation such as a UN agency, the African Union, a development bank or an international NGO. Most are taken straight from the employer’s own careers page or job board; others are sent to us by the employer.
How are jobs checked before they appear?
The employer’s Finelib listing is checked automatically and re-checked every week. Jobs that mention fees, very short adverts, re-posted jobs, jobs sent through our employer form and jobs from businesses not yet on Finelib are reviewed by an editor before they go live.
How often are new jobs added?
New jobs are published every Monday and Friday. Jobs that close, are filled or disappear from the employer’s site are removed every day, and the same job is never listed twice.
What should I do if someone asks me to pay for a job?
Do not pay. Genuine employers do not charge applicants for forms, tests, training, medicals or uniforms. Use “Report a problem” on the job page or email [email protected], and try our free job scam checker.
How can an employer list jobs or remove them?
The business needs an active, verified listing on Finelib.com. It can then connect its careers page so new jobs appear automatically, or post a single job. To change or remove jobs, email [email protected] or use “Report a problem” on the job; we act within one working day.
