Makurdi is the state capital, also serves as the LGA headquarters of Makurdi LGA, which consists the district of Makurdi (Rural) containing the vilages of Adaka, Adeke, Ajam, Agbadu, Agbeshir, Agenada, Akaan, Aki, Akigwe, Akpehe, Akume, Alla and Anter.

Ukum is a local government area in Benue State with headquarters in the town of Sankera and the area is made of the districts of Borikyo, Aterayange, Mbatian, Uvan, Ituuluv, Lumbur, Mbazum, Tsaar, Mbayenge, Ugbadan, Kendav and Azendesh.
