What to check before you buy
Compare price per 100g, not per pack: pack sizes range from 800g to 1kg.
Use low-foam 'machine' or 'auto' powder in washing machines. Hand-wash powder foams too much.
Check the NAFDAC number and expiry date. Fake Ariel and Omo are sold in open markets.
Omo and Sunlight stock is patchy since Unilever stopped local production, so expect old or imported packs.

Frequently asked questions
Which detergent is cheapest in Nigeria?

Is Omo still sold in Nigeria?
Unilever Nigeria stopped making home-care brands such as Omo in 2023–24, so stock is patchy and we found no dated 2026 price for a 900g pack. If you find one, check the expiry date.
Can I use any detergent in a washing machine?
Use a low-foam machine powder such as Waw Machine Auto Wash (about ₦2,660 per 1kg). Regular hand-wash powder makes too much foam and can damage the machine.
