Obazu Festival

Obazu Festival was formally called Oro festival but was later changed to Obazu festival in remembrance of Obazua who was very dear to the people of Aomas after the death Oro who was a god Iuleha forfathers brought from Yoruba land.

It is a sacred festival in the sense that while most African cultural festival allows spectators to observe the festival, the Obazu cultural festival does not allow female spectators, only initiated men.

It is strictly for men and includes a lot of sacrifices to the deities of the land during this cultural festival. For anyone that defaults or disobeys, there is a penalty which ranges from the payment of a goat (paid once at the time of the festival) and a snail, among other items and must be paid yearly except the goat.
