He subsequently specialised In ophthalmology and became a fellow of the post graduate medical college of Nigeria in 1988, and a fellow of the West African College of Surgeons in 1988. He Also obtained a Master's degree in Epidemiology from the University of London.
He has held numerous positions within the Ophthalmological Society of Nigeria (OSN), and was the president of the society. He is a member of the faculty of Ophthalmology of the post graduate Medical College. He has published numerous scientific and scholarly articles especially relating to the field of ophthalmology.
