Oye is one of the functioning sixteen (16)Local Government Areas of Ekiti state, Nigeria which was created out from Ekiti Norh LGA (now inoperative) in the month of May, 1971. This local government area shares boundaries with Bole, Ilejemeje and Ido-Osi LGAs.

Oye LGA is headed by the chairman who acts as an agent of the central government in the aspect of implementing government policies such as maintenance of law and order at the grassroots level.
