Okene Local Government Area is one among the 21 local government areas of Kogi state, Nigeria, It was carved out from Ebira Division in 1976 during the local government reformation.

This LGA has two major districts which are Okene and Okengwe districts, 11 electoral wards and many villages.
Okene LGA is rich in solid minerals such as limestone, gemstones, quartz and so many others used as raw materials in so many industries. Most of their revenues are been generated from their solid mineral resources while allocations for public development are gotten from the government.
