Ogori-Magongo is among the smallest in the list of 21 Local Government Areas of Kogi state that falls under the Central Senatorial district of the state, consisting of Ogori / Magongo as the major district, several communities and 10 electoral wards. It is bordered to the North-East by Okene Local Government and in the South by Edo State.

The LGA was carved out from old Okene Local Government Area for the people of Ogori and Magongo.
The Local government chairman as the chief administrator for the area development council and the councilors of the 10 wards with other subordinates sees to the public administration of the area.
