Gubio Town is the location of the administrative headquarters of Gubio Local Government Area. The LGA has common boundaries with Magumari to the south side, Nganzal to the east, Mobber to the northwest and to the northeast with Guzamala LGA thus forming a federal constituency with Magumeri and Kaga LGAs.

Gubio LGA just as others was created as a lower tier government to bring the attention of the federal government to the people at the grassroots level because the country is too large for only one level of government to operate effectively.
