Tile Calculator

Estimate floor or wall tiles from the area to be covered, tile dimensions, openings/deductions, packaging and a chosen cutting or breakage allowance.

Choose where the tiles will be installed

The calculator works from actual surface area and the dimensions printed on the tile or package.

Packaging matters: pieces per box and box coverage vary by tile size and manufacturer. Enter the number shown on the actual package or supplier specification. Wastage depends on room shape, tile layout, cuts, pattern matching and workmanship.

Planning estimate: Confirm tile dimensions, calibre, shade/batch, pieces per carton and actual carton coverage before buying. For patterned, diagonal or complex layouts, a larger cutting allowance may be appropriate. Buying enough matching batch material at once can reduce problems caused by later shade or production differences.

How the estimate works

The calculator finds the gross floor or wall surface, subtracts entered openings or excluded areas, and divides the net area by the face area of one tile. It applies the selected wastage allowance, adds any extra spare pieces and rounds up to whole tiles. It then rounds the purchase to complete boxes using the pieces-per-box value you entered.
