Plastering Calculator

Estimate cement and sand for wall plastering from the actual surface area, plaster thickness, mortar ratio and project allowance.

Enter the plastering work

Calculate a rectangular room's walls or enter a measured plaster area directly.

Editable assumptions: 12 mm thickness, 1:4 mortar, 1.33 dry-volume factor and the displayed material densities are planning inputs, not universal specifications. Actual plaster thickness, mix, sand grading, substrate condition and project specification can change consumption.

Planning estimate: Uneven blockwork, dubbing-out, corners, reveals, columns, beams, surface roughness and workmanship can increase mortar use. This calculator estimates the plaster coat itself and does not automatically include separate rendering coats, bonding agents, mesh, additives, scaffolding or labour.

How the estimate works

Net plaster area is multiplied by plaster thickness to obtain wet mortar volume. The editable dry-volume factor converts this to an estimated dry ingredient volume. The cement:sand ratio divides that volume into cement and sand fractions. Cement volume is converted to mass using the entered bulk density and then to whole bags. Sand is shown in cubic metres and as an approximate bulk weight. Wastage is applied to the material quantities.

How to Use and Check Your Result

Enter the measurements, quantities, costs and assumptions requested in the calculator above. Use its calculation control and review the displayed result. All figures should be checked against your actual project or operating conditions.

Planning and safety: Confirm measurements, local conditions, material specifications and professional requirements before purchase or construction. Finelib does not certify engineering designs or supplier quotations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Plastering Calculator estimate?

It estimates planning quantities or costs from the figures you enter. Review the calculator assumptions before using the result.

Can I use this calculator for a project in Nigeria?

Yes. Enter measurements and quotations relevant to your Nigerian location and project.

Does Finelib supply current market prices automatically?

No. Prices and rates should be checked with relevant suppliers; do not assume any illustrative values are live quotations.

Are the results guaranteed to be accurate?

No. The output depends on entered assumptions and is intended for preliminary planning, not professional certification.

How should I handle wastage or losses?

Where the calculator provides a wastage or contingency field, enter an allowance appropriate to the project. Otherwise account for it separately.

Can I use the result to request supplier quotes?

Yes. Use Finelib Match to find suitable businesses and request Quotes or Offers, then verify specifications and providers.

Should a professional review the result?

Yes, when the decision involves structural safety, electrical safety, major equipment, significant expenditure or regulatory requirements.
