Safe foundation design depends on building loads, soil/geotechnical conditions, groundwater, settlement, adjacent structures and applicable engineering requirements. Use dimensions specified by a qualified professional and approved project documents.

How the estimate works

Strip foundation: excavation = total trench length × excavation width × excavation depth. Foundation concrete = total strip length × footing width × footing thickness. Pad footings: the corresponding volumes are calculated for one rectangular pad/excavation and multiplied by the number of identical pads. Optional blinding is calculated beneath the footing using the entered thickness and extra width. Concrete and excavation allowances are then applied separately.
