Electrical Wiring Calculator

Estimate planning quantities for electrical cable, conduit and common wiring points from measured circuit routes. Enter cable sizes and circuit specifications already selected for the project.

Enter wiring runs and points

This tool estimates material quantities. It does not determine safe cable or protective-device sizes.

Cable runs
Conduit / containment
Electrical points
Measure routes, not straight-line room distances: cable and conduit should follow the intended installation path, including rises/drops and routing to the distribution point. Conductors are entered separately because a 30 m route containing three single-core conductors represents approximately 90 m of conductor before allowance.

Electrical safety boundary: This calculator does not select cable cross-sectional area, breaker/fuse rating, RCD/RCBO protection, conduit size/fill, earthing conductor, bonding, voltage-drop limits, fault protection or circuit arrangement. Those depend on load, installation method, conductor material, ambient conditions, grouping, route length, supply characteristics and applicable electrical requirements. Use a qualified electrical professional and the approved design/specification.

How the estimate works

For each circuit group, measured route length is multiplied by the entered number of conductors. The selected cable allowance is then added. Conduit is calculated from the entered containment route with its own allowance and divided by the selected stock length to obtain whole pieces. Electrical point counts are reported separately so they can later feed Finelib Prices and Finelib Match without pretending that every point uses the same accessory, cable size or circuit design.

How to Use and Check Your Result

Enter the measurements, quantities, costs and assumptions requested in the calculator above. Use its calculation control and review the displayed result. All figures should be checked against your actual project or operating conditions.

Planning and safety: Electrical or power-system sizing requires qualified design review and applicable safety standards. Finelib does not certify engineering designs or supplier quotations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Electrical Wiring Calculator estimate?

It estimates planning quantities or costs from the figures you enter. Review the calculator assumptions before using the result.

Can I use this calculator for a project in Nigeria?

Yes. Enter measurements and quotations relevant to your Nigerian location and project.

Does Finelib supply current market prices automatically?

No. Prices and rates should be checked with relevant suppliers; do not assume any illustrative values are live quotations.

Are the results guaranteed to be accurate?

No. The output depends on entered assumptions and is intended for preliminary planning, not professional certification.

How should I handle wastage or losses?

Where the calculator provides a wastage or contingency field, enter an allowance appropriate to the project. Otherwise account for it separately.

Can I use the result to request supplier quotes?

Yes. Use Finelib Match to find suitable businesses and request Quotes or Offers, then verify specifications and providers.

Should a professional review the result?

Yes, when the decision involves structural safety, electrical safety, major equipment, significant expenditure or regulatory requirements.
