Building Cost Calculator

Build a transparent preliminary budget for a residential project in Nigeria. Adjust the floor area, scope, finish level, location factor and allowances instead of relying on one universal cost-per-square-metre claim.

Enter your project details

This is an early-stage budget estimator. It is not a bill of quantities or contractor quotation.

Planning base rate

This is deliberately editable. Replace it with a current, evidence-backed rate appropriate to your project type and location when available through Finelib Prices or your quantity surveyor.

Important: This calculator is for preliminary budgeting only. It excludes land purchase unless you add it separately, and it does not replace drawings, specifications, a measured bill of quantities, site investigation, statutory advice, engineering design or a professional quantity surveyor's cost plan. Actual costs can change materially with location, soil/foundation conditions, building form, specifications, services, exchange rates, labour, logistics and market prices.

How the estimate works

Total floor area is multiplied by the editable base rate, finish factor and location factor. The selected project-scope factor is then applied. Professional/approval and external-works allowances are added, followed by contingency. Finally, the calculator presents an uncertainty range around the central planning estimate so an early-stage estimate is not presented as a precise quotation.

How to Use and Check Your Result

Enter the measurements, quantities, costs and assumptions requested in the calculator above. Use its calculation control and review the displayed result. All figures should be checked against your actual project or operating conditions.

Planning and safety: Confirm measurements, local conditions, material specifications and professional requirements before purchase or construction. Finelib does not certify engineering designs or supplier quotations.
