Farm Profit Calculator

Calculate revenue, production costs, gross profit, net farm profit, margin and break-even selling price for crops, poultry, livestock or fish farming.

Calculate farm profit

Use one consistent farming or sales period. All monetary inputs are in Nigerian naira (₦).

1. Farm sales

Bags, birds, kilograms, crates or other sale units

2. Direct production costs

3. Other period expenses

Enter only costs attributable to the selected period, without double counting. Land purchase, unsold inventory and capital assets need separate accounting treatment.

Enter sales and costs, then click Calculate Farm Profit.

—Total revenue
—Direct production costs
—Gross profit
—Total costs
—Net profit margin
—Break-even price per unit
Break-even assumes the entered sales quantity and other revenue remain unchanged. It is not a current market price.

How to Use This Calculator

Enter actual quantity sold, price per unit and any other revenue. Add direct production costs and other expenses from the same farm cycle. Press Calculate to see gross and net profit or loss.

How This Calculator Works

Sales revenue = Quantity sold × Selling price per unit
Total revenue = Sales revenue + Other revenue
Gross profit = Total revenue − Direct production costs
Net profit = Total revenue − All entered costs
Net margin = Net profit ÷ Revenue × 100% (if revenue > 0)
Break-even price = (Total costs − Other revenue) ÷ Quantity sold (if quantity > 0)

Understanding Your Result

Gross profit measures revenue after direct production costs. Net profit also deducts selling, overhead and finance expenses. Negative net profit indicates a loss. This is a period-based profit estimate, not a cash-flow statement or tax computation.

Important Factors

Yield, mortality, spoilage, input costs, transport, seasonal demand, storage and sales timing all affect farm results. Unsold produce should not be treated as sold revenue without an appropriate accounting basis.

Nigeria Farming Context

Prices and farm input costs differ across Nigerian markets, states and seasons. No current prices are assumed: enter recorded or independently verified figures.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is farm profit?

Farm profit is revenue minus the expenses included in the calculation.

What is gross versus net farm profit?

Gross profit subtracts direct production costs. Net profit also subtracts other entered expenses.

Can this be used for poultry and fish farming?

Yes. Use relevant quantities, sale prices and costs.

Does it include land purchase costs?

Land acquisition is a capital investment, not automatically a current-period operating expense.

Can farm profit be negative?

Yes. A negative result indicates a loss under the entered assumptions.

Are live Nigerian commodity prices included?

No. All prices are user-entered.

How should I treat unsold harvest?

Enter actual sales for the period. Unsold inventory requires separate valuation and accounting.
