How to Use This Calculator

Enter the number of workers, days each worker is expected to work, daily wage and normal working hours. If overtime is expected, add overtime hours per worker per day and an hourly overtime rate. Enter additional labour-related costs and press Calculate. For different worker groups, calculate each group separately.

Farm Labour Cost Formula

Worker-days = Workers × Days per worker
Regular worker-hours = Worker-days × Regular hours per day
Base wages = Worker-days × Daily wage
Overtime hours = Worker-days × Overtime hours per day
Overtime wages = Overtime hours × Overtime hourly rate
Total labour cost = Base wages + Overtime wages + Additional labour expenses
Cost per worker-day = Total labour cost ÷ Worker-days (if greater than zero)

Understanding Your Results

Total labour cost includes the wages and expenses you enter for the selected farm work period. Worker-days measure the combined workdays of the group, while worker-hours reflect the scheduled hours. Cost per worker-day is useful for budgeting comparable farm tasks but should not be confused with the agreed daily wage.

Farm Labour Planning in Nigeria

Labour costs may differ by state, season, crop, skill level and farm activity. The calculator does not assume current Nigerian wage rates or statutory overtime rules. Enter actual or quoted rates and verify legal obligations where relevant.

Important Limitations

This version assumes a common work schedule and rate for all workers in a group, with overtime occurring on each working day. It does not automatically calculate taxes, pension contributions, statutory benefits, payroll deductions or different wage grades. Enter applicable employer expenses in the additional cost fields where appropriate.
