Durbar Festival - Kano

This is a colourful exposition of the culture of the people of Kano State, during this festive day, men and horses dress in their special attire designed for ceremonies while riding around in respect of the festival.

Prior to the parade of the Emir and his entourage on horses, a prayer is first made to Allah, before accompanying them to the Emir's palace with dancing and music.

This period offers Kano indigenes opportunity to showcase their various culture, the Durbar cultural festival is widely celebrated by Kano citizens annually.
