Lagos, Nigeria Carnival and Cultural Fiesta

Lagos's cultural carnival is a very colorful, memorable, and highly attractive yearly event, as the city is known to be the most populated in Western Nigeria. The event always witnesses a large turnout of spectators from Nigeria and the Diaspora.

It is usually scheduled annually around the month of May. The upcoming edition will likely take place in May 2023 but the date is yet to be published by the event organizers.

During this cultural carnival, there is an exposition of the culture and tradition of Lagosians through dance, costumes with remarkable body paints, and colorful fashion, the participants parade through the streets amidst cheers and songs.

Traditional rulers of communities in Lagos and the traditional title holders dress in their traditional regalia to add color to this memorable event.

Lagos cultural carnival is not restricted to Lagosians; it is open to others from various parts of the country and beyond who enjoy participating in a lively event of such magnitude. Historians and journalists utilize the opportunity to make documentaries about the cultural heritage of the people.
